Your child’s day with us!

No two days are the same with the Wildlings!
Every day, every moment is a true adventure.
Our approach is firmly rooted in the guiding principles of Forest School. We believe in the power of child-led learning, planning spontaneously and responding in the moment to each child's interests and needs. By doing so, we can provide immediate support, fostering an environment where children can pursue their self-directed learning journeys.
The children are empowered to take ownership of their learning, choosing the direction and activities that most inspire and engage them. This ensures that every child is not only involved in, but also responsible for, shaping their own educational experiences.
Each day our base camp is set up with an array of equipment, from wheelbarrows, slack lines, and swings to books, quiet corners, and mud kitchens. When we are in base camp, the children are free to explore. If a child shows a particular interest in creating something, we will get out the tools to allow this to happen.
We explore around the wonderful habitats of Baggeridge Country Park. We stop off at the pond, climb the biggest hill to scope the area, and play in the woods. As the children become more familiar with us and our rules for keeping safe in a public area, we will spend much more time out of base camp, gradually moving to whole days in the summer.
We have a high staff to child ratio of 1:5 to ensure children are kept safe and supported through their learning.
OUTDOOR CLOTHING
We will be outdoors all day, every day, rain or shine! It's crucial to keep your child warm and safe by dressing them appropriately for the weather.
As part of the enhanced enrolment fee, we can provide your child with a waterproof jacket and trousers upon request.
Our information pack includes more details on suitable clothing to ensure your child stays comfortable and safe, supporting their enjoyment, understanding, and learning in the outdoors.
FOOD
Children should bring a packed lunch in a cool bag that they can carry easily. Parents are encouraged to include an ice pack to keep the lunchbox cool and to consider the weather when selecting foods, such as avoiding yogurt on hot days. Healthy lunch options are highly recommended.
We are mindful of dietary needs, so please inform us of any special requirements during registration.
Children need to bring a freshly filled, full, named water bottle, which we can refill as needed. On cold days, we provide warm snacks and drinks around the campfire.
Our Wildlings are very active and burn a lot of energy, so we ensure they have access to healthy snacks throughout the day.
We believe eating together as a group supports children’s social development. They will wash their hands under supervision before lunch and snack times. Campfire cooking is a regular activity, with recipes such as hot beans or spaghetti, damper bread, curry, stew, pizza, baked fruit, popcorn, and more.
